May I offer my customers incentives to submit reviews?

Yes, vendors may offer customers incentives to submit reviews. Per the FTC Guidelines on Endorsements, incentives must be of nominal value, defined as less than $25. In order to assist Vendors in their sourcing efforts, Gartner will directly incentivize reviewers coming from review sourcing links with the incentive of the vendors’ choosing. Peer Insights provides vendors different incentive options to offer their customers to submit reviews. Vendors can create review sourcing links and can opt-in to distribute incentives to reviewers directly through their GPI Vendor Portal.

Gartner Peer Insights Incentive Options:

  • Gartner Funded Gift Cards - New vendors are offered 50 $25 USD International Visa Gift Cards to use in their first 6 months. These can also be applied as a charity donation.

  • Vendor Funded Gift Cards - Vendors can fund their own gift cards, up to $5,000 USD per market/category per year.

    • Each gift card is valued at $25 USD, which is in line with Gartner’s incentive policy and as required by FTC Guidelines.

Things to keep in mind when offering incentives to reviewers:

  • Offer incentives equally for all reviews, not just the positive ones. And offer them to all customers you invite, not just the happy ones.

  • Vendors should not offer incentives to Gov/Public sector employees in exchange for reviews - when in doubt, check with your in-house counsel.

  • Vendors who violate the guidelines may be subject to penalties imposed both by Gartner and under the law. Penalties may include a comment on vendor’s profile, suspension of services, or other to be determined at our discretion.

How do I take advantage of the Visa Gift card incentives?

To take advantage of the Gartner Funded and/or Vendor Funded $25 Visa international gift cards please create a trackable review sourcing link in the GPI Vendor Portal. During Step 2, check the option “Gartner Funded Incentives” or “Your Funded Incentives”. In the dropdown for incentive type, select “$25 Visa gift card”. When your customers submit a review from this sourcing link, approved reviews will receive the gift card electronically via their User Profile. If your customer does not submit a review from this link, they are not eligible for a Visa gift card.

How do my customers receive the gift card?

After the review is approved by our moderation team, your customer will receive an email confirming they have earned a gift card. The customer will then need to visit the "Your Reviews" section of their Gartner Peer Insights User Profile where they will see an option to "Claim Your Reward" to redeem the gift card.

My customers are outside of the US - Will they still get a gift card? Will the customer receive the gift card in the currency of their country?

We now offer an international Visa gift card valued at $25 USD to all reviewers. The international Visa gift card can be used in 140+ countries and redeemed in the currency of their country. For questions about specific countries, please reach out to PeerInsights@gartner.com directly.

Do gift cards need to be redeemed in a certain period of time?

Visa International gift cards have an expiration date stated on them. For our Visa International gift card, it is 4 months to claim and 7 months to redeem. Expired gift card codes become invalid once the expiration date arrives and cannot return into the cycle.

Do we have the option to fund additional incentives after we leverage the 50 available to us?

The Gartner-funded incentives are a “Sourcing Starter Fund” and are valid for up to 6 months from the date of issue. These gift cards are not replenished once exhausted or after expiry (whichever is earlier). However, should you wish to continue to incentivize your customers, you can fund your own thank-you gift cards through our Technology Provider Funded Gift Card Program.

Please ensure you adhere to our incentive policy for gift cards.

Can I align a certain number of funded incentives to a specific campaign?

Unfortunately, we do not support these features at this time.

Can I align a certain number of funded incentives to a specific market/category?

Allocation of incentives by market/category is certainly possible. Tech Providers that have products listed in more than one market/category, can manage, distribute or restrict funds usage to specific markets/categories.

The feature is only applicable to vendor funded incentives and does not extend to Gartner funded ones.

If you would like to allocate your funds to specific market/category, please reach out to your Program Manager directly. If you do not know who your aligned Program Manager is, please email us at PeerInsightsVendorSuccess@gartner.com.

How do I utilize the donation incentives?

To utilize the $25 donation to charity incentives, please create a trackable review sourcing link in the GPI Vendor Portal. During Step 2, check the option “Gartner Funded Incentives” or “Your Funded Incentives”. In the dropdown for incentive type, select “$25 donation to charity”. When your customers submit a review from this sourcing link, approved reviews will be able to select the charity of their choice via their User Profile. If your customer does not submit a review from this link, they are not eligible for a Gartner funded donation to charity.

My customers are outside of the US - Are there only US based charities to select from?

As of now, we only offer our donation incentive to select US based charities. These specific charities are mentioned below

How do my customers claim their donation incentive?

After the review is approved by our moderation team, your customer will receive next steps to select the charity for their $25 donation.

What are the available charities?

When a review is approved and published your customer will be given a list of US based charities to choose from. The list is as follows:

Can we change the gift card/donation incentive amount to smaller denominations?

Each gift card is valued at $25 USD. This is the standard denomination for both - Gartner funded gift cards as well as vendor funded gift cards. Gartner reserves the right to retain/change the unit value of each incentive to any amount up to $25 USD, in line with Gartner’s policies.

How do I know how many Gift card and/or charity incentives I have left?

Within the “Review Sourcing Links” tab of the GPI Vendor Portal, you will be able to see how many total incentives have been used out of the total funds in the top left hand corner. You will also be able to see the monetary amount of funded incentives you have left to utilize. Additionally, the review sourcing link reporting will show how many reviews have been approved per each link. To get the total number of funded incentives used, just add up the number of approved reviews from these campaigns.

When does my customer receive their incentive?

The customer receives their incentive after the review has been vetted and approved by our moderation team, not when their review is submitted. It takes our team anywhere from 3-10 business days to fully moderate and approve a review. After the review is approved, the customer will receive an email with steps to redeem their incentive. The customer can check the status of their review at any point within their User Profile. If the review is not approved, the customer will not receive an incentive.

Who should I reach out to if my customer does not receive an offered GPI incentive?

If your customer does not receive an incentive, please have your customer reach out to PeerInsights@gartner.com directly. Your Gartner Peer Insights Program Manager cannot confirm with any vendor contact if a specific customer received/should have received an incentive as per our anonymity policies.

What happens if a customer in an industry that cannot be incentivized submits a review that is aligned to a funded incentive?

These reviewers are notified directly by our team via email that we are not able to send them the Gartner-funded incentive as it violates Gartner’s legal policies. Please see an example of the messaging that is sent below:

“Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with a gift card because doing so violates Gartner’s legal policy prohibiting gifts to any Public Sector enterprise or Government body. In case you don’t want your review to be published or need any more information about your submitted review contact us at peerinsights@gartner.com"
